EXERCISE 01

Patience Push-Ups

Focus — Emotional control, endurance in love

Why this matters

Patience is strength under control. Many marriages are damaged not by big moments, but by small reactions repeated daily.

The exercise

  • Pause for 10 seconds before responding
  • Take 3 deep breaths
  • Ask: What would love do right now?
  • Respond gently instead of reacting emotionally

Bonus drill

Allow your spouse to fully finish speaking without interruption.

Reps

3 to 5 times daily, especially during tension

Scripture

Love is patient — 1 Corinthians 13:4

Slow to anger is better than the mighty — Proverbs 16:32

EXERCISE 02

Submission Squats

Focus — Humility, unity, and God-aligned leadership

The exercise

FOR WIVES

  • Identify resistance to leadership
  • Support decisions unless it contradicts God
  • Say: I trust your leadership in this

FOR HUSBANDS

  • Invite input before decisions
  • Lead with love, not control
  • Say: I value your input on this

Reps

Daily during decision-making moments

Scripture

Ephesians 5:21–22

EXERCISE 03 Featured

Communication Curls

Focus — Communication, understanding, emotional safety

Why this matters

Strong communication builds strong marriages. Weak communication creates distance and confusion.

Goal

  • Slow down communication
  • Remove defensiveness
  • Build emotional safety

Exercise steps

  • One spouse speaks
  • Uses “I feel ___ when you ___” format
  • Other spouse listens without interrupting
  • Listener repeats what they heard
  • Switch roles

Mindset

SPEAKER

  • Express feelings calmly and clearly

LISTENER

  • Understand, not defend

TIP

Pause if emotions rise too high.

RESULT

Better understanding, stronger connection, peaceful resolution.

Reps

3 to 4 times per week

Scripture

James 1:19

Ephesians 4:15

Coach's note

Communication is the heartbeat of every healthy marriage. Practice this drill weekly — even when there’s nothing wrong — to keep your connection conditioned and ready for harder conversations.

Forgiveness Front Raises

Focus — Healing and restoration

The exercise

  • Identify the offence
  • Say: I choose to forgive you for…
  • Pray together
  • Do not revisit the issue

Scripture

Colossians 3:13

EXERCISE 05

Love Language Lifts

Focus — Emotional needs and intentional love

The exercise

  • Words — encouragement
  • Actions — service
  • Time — presence
  • Gifts — thoughtful gestures
  • Touch — affection
